Amid a tropical Caribbean climate, spectacular natural beauty
and Mayan culture, hacienda Uxmal inspires relaxation, tranquility
and a feast of the senses. Located in the exclusive gated resort
community of Playacar (40 minutes from Cancun airport), hacienda
Uxmal is an exquisite hideaway for only the most discriminating
guests. The region's sun-drenched ambiance is reflected in the Hacienda's
simple yet elegant Spanish Colonial design by architect Angel Isla.
Interiors were designed by the renown Connecticut interior decorator
Carol Whitley. 
Double height ceilings, roughhewn wood beams, skylights and custom
Talavera tiles add to the home's warm and unique style. The spacious
living room has an 18-foot wrap-around sofa and antique coffee table.
A fully equipped gourmet kitchen invites both amateur and more serious
chefs. The centerpiece of the dining room is an impressive 9 foot
mahogany table to encourage hours of dining pleasure. All the main
rooms spill out onto the terra cotta tile surface and the pools
beyond. A Mayan waterfall spills into the sparkling swimming pools
reflecting a lush landscape of tropical plants and palms.
Four bedrooms and a master suite sleep a total of 11 guests, and
each upstairs bedroom has it's own balcony. There are 4 and 1/2
bathrooms offering four showers and one tub. Private sunbathing
is available on the sunroof where an outside shower awaits to cool
you. The Hacienda is fully air-conditioned with individual room

Perfectly situated on the 4th hole of the beautiful Robert Von
Hagge Golf Course, the Hacienda is only a short walk from the ferry
boat to Cozumel and Playa del Carmen's famed Quinta Avenida (5th
Avenue). The pedestrian street is lined with many shops and international
cafes and comes alive at night with strolling musicians and lively
international conversations.
The best of Playa is found in the miles of silky white beaches
kissed by the sparkling turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean.
The friendly atmosphere of Hacienda Uxmal, it's romantic nights,
myriad of daytime activities and it's location in the heart of the
Mayan Riviera, make it the perfect place to spend your vacation.
If you care to venture from Playa del Carmen, you may want to explore
the Mayan archeological ruins of Tulum, Chichen Itza and Coba or
the nearby ecological waterparks of Xel-Ha and Xcaret. The options

After the hustle and bustle of Playa del Carmen
during the holidays it was such a treat to return to our Hacienda
Uxmal and the quiet solitude of this gorgeous home. With it's
huge living area and gourmet kitchen our family spent many hours
sitting, cooking and talking without being interrupted by the
outside world, except by the dawn chorus of birds.
Our get together consisted of ten adults from London,
D.C., Florida, and Texas and the house was more than adequate
to accommodate all of us. The house staff was always available
for any questions we had and Maria the housekeeper takes pride
in keeping the house literally sparkling clean.
Our ten days spent in Playa flew by and we hope
to return again next year or maybe even this summer.
